We had a great turnout for our Open Day on Saturday 23rd June, celebrating 10 years in business. We had lots of interesting animals to meet, a tour of our hospital, face painting and refreshments.

It was great to offer our lovely clients a sneak peak of what goes on ‘behind the scenes’. Each room had a different theme, for instance our surgical theatre was set up for a surgical procedure, including some instruments regularly used. Our vet Susan also had a great quiz, challenging all the kiddies (and adults alike) to identify the function of certain body organs. Another room was dedicated to parasites and how best we can protect our pets. Visitors were shocked to learn that a flea can produce up to 50 eggs a day! We also had competitions and quizzes in each room for some great prizes.

Our hospital ward was very popular as we had a variety of animals for visitors to meet. These included dogs, cats, Sam the kitten (pictured here), a chinchilla, guinea pig, rabbits, geese and very cute chicks….to name but a few!

Our treatment room displayed some exotic pets that people may not meet everyday including, Shannon the Tarantula, Bonnie the Tenrec and Sprocket the Tortoise. Our exotics vet Jennifer was on hand to answer peoples questions about all the weird and wonderful ‘smallies’ we treat at PVH.

Face painting went down a treat and our amazing face painters were chockablock for the entire 2 hours…..transforming kiddies into dogs, cats and tigers.

Our open day was a great success, we thoroughly enjoyed it and we think the feeling was mutual among all of our visitors.

Until next time…..
